Cyclo-Cross Promoters Summit

The first meeting of Cyclo-Cross promoters was held at Tony Rome’s restaurant in West Seneca, New York on January 24, 2013.

At that meeting, a number of issues were discussed between the promoters. There was a general consensus that with a few changes to standardize the categories, a race series could be developed that would reward racers for attending more races and may help to increase participation.

It was suggested that the women and single speed categories run at the same starting time with a short start separation so as to avoid conflicts with the larger Category 4 group. This would result in three race starts per day, creating a 9am, 11am, 1pm schedule.

It was also recommended that the age group category change from Masters 45+ to Masters 40+, possibly reducing the number of riders in the largest Category 4 race. This would allow the Cat 1-2-3 and Masters 40+ to run at the same start time, balancing the group size.
